A Creative Weekend Ahead!!

Hi All.....

A feeling of dread hit me last night when I collected my 2 year old Daughter, Evie, from nursery. As I approached the front door a notice hit my attention......."EASTER BONNET PARADE". As you know Good Friday is only a week away and the nursery are holding an Easter Bonnet Parade for all the children to attend. It is being held at 2pm in the garden. Each class will parade their Bonnets to an audience of children, parents and staff. The notice advised parents that they will need to make their child a bonnet!! A first for me!!
Of course I am really looking forward to the parade, its just the creative aspect that scares me as friends and family know I'm not creative!!
So my mission this weekend is to make my little "bunny" a bonnet. I am starting to get some ideas and will be rushing down to the art shop on Saturday to get my materials.
Evie's Nanna has been invited. Evie's Nanna is Mrs Creative. My Brother and I never lost a Easter Bonnet Parade or any kind of creative competition come to think of it! I am not going to cheat and ask Nanna to help....I can't.....she is 1hr 30mins away!!
I plan to create a lovely bonnet together with Evie this weekend and look forward to the big day.

Wish me luck and let my creative juices flow!!

Have a good weekend

London 2012

Went to an event last night especially for local businesses that want to be ready for any opportunities that the London Olympics will create for them.
There were lot's of big players there and after listening to the speakers I realised that the impact will be collossal - did you realise that at it's peak there will be 6000 construction workers on site? Imagine how many teas, coffees and bacon butties are going to be needed to keep them all working happily.
The ODA (Olympic Delivery Authority) are totally committed to using local companies to help regenerate the area still further.
So my message to all you companies is to get 'Olympic Fit' by making sure all your processes are up to scratch - including Health & Safety and Quality Systems, because this will also be taken into consideration. Contracts will be awarded from 2007 onwards.
Have a good one.

My first Networking Event

Hello Everyone.....

Well on Tuesday evening I attended my first networking event with Leigh. It was held at The Tower Hotel and was a Ecademy event. Networking is something that I have been meaning to do for ages and quite honetly had been a little shy!! Deep down I knew that I'd be fine as I have presented at hundreds of meetings in my recruitment career however I can honestly say I had butterflies!!
I am glad that I attended this event with Leigh as I think I would have been somewhat confused had I arrived on my own. The event was being held from 6pm to 10pm. Starting with a initial networking session in the hotel bar. Leigh and I arrived a little after 6pm and located the bar to find that the organisers, Ecademy, hadn't actually arrived and there was nowhere to register. It was well after 6.30pm before it was clear if we were in the right place and that we were at a networking event. However, the room started to fill with people and it was time to network!!
Leigh had given me a few tips on our journey from the office to The Tower and after all the waiting around and confusion I just wanted to get started. So Leigh and I went our separate ways. Within seconds I had approached 2 fellow networkers and introduced myself. I don't know what I was worried about. It was really interesting to meet new people and find out what their business is. I gained some really interesting contacts that I feel will be of benefit now and in the future. People are keen to hear what you do and even if it is not something they need now or in the future they are willing to mention clients or contacts that may be interested.
I am really pleased how the evening went. I was silly to worry! I am already about to book my next networking event and plan to try a few before committing to a monthly event.
Thanks to Leigh for taking me along and sharing her networking tips!
I will let you know how successful my next event is.

Have a good weekend!

an exhasting weekend

I did my third evening of Ceroc dancing last night and can really recommend it as a way of keeping fit, meeting new people and having lot's of fun - I'm really enjoying it.
In my quest to add variety to my fitness training, I decided to get back into mountain biking after a 5 year break. I met the gang at Epping Forest at 9.30 yesterday morning with trepidation and boy, was I right to be nervous. Getting over logs, riding on a camber, through dodgy ditches and all those technical challenges I used to do with a certain level of confidence all seemed very scary to me. We only did about 12 miles but mentally I felt like I had done 20. I'm going to go out on Saturday and Sunday next weekend to see if I can coax that old confidence out from where it's hiding within me. Wish me luck!!!
Have a great week.

Happy Dancing

Went to my first Ceroc class last night - it's a cross between salsa and jive for those of you that don't know.
I was scared rigid after the first demo and thoughts like "how the hell am I going to remember that", "shall I leave now?" and "I don't think this is for me" all came flooding into my head.
Bearing in mind that this was the first of 4 steps we were going to learn, panic was definitely setting in.
One advantage I had being female is that the guy does the leading and all I had to do was follow...without causing him major damage to his feet!!!
3 hours later, I was whizzing round the dance floor laughing and having a brilliant time...and that's only knowing 4 moves.
Can't wait till next week.

Happy 2006!

Here we are, another Christmas and New Year celebrated… too much food… too much drink… too many late nights!!

TSC started our celebrations on the evening of 22nd December 2005 when we had our annual Christmas get together at Sarastro’s in Holborn. It is definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been before. The food is great and it is themed as a theatre, dramatically painted and they even have theatre ‘boxes’ for you sit and eat in!

After copious amounts of drinks we all managed to find our way home and continue our holidays in the same vein J

Back at work today and we had a team meeting to set goals for the coming year. This is something we have done for the last 3 or 4 years and it’s a great way of starting the New Year in a positive light.

I hope that you get all that you wish for in 2006. Enjoy!!

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us!!!!

The Sales Consultancy is 10 years old this month so it’s a time for great celebrations!

We began our life as a one man band working out of an office built within a garage - and we grew and grew… now we are based in Canary Wharf.

We have expanded our services so much over the 10 years from starting with only telesales functions to today where we help clients with all sales functions, marketing plans and implementation, direct mail, eshots, sales training, coaching and recruitment. And we won’t stop there!!!

Well the champagne awaits - so cheers….and please feel free to call and wish us Happy Birthday

A new team member!

Hello, my name is Dean Verdant; I am TSC’s latest recruit and will be initially working on telemarketing.

I have now completed my 1st week at TSC and I must say ‘I AM EXTREMLEY IMPRESSED’ with all I have seen from the staff and the way the company is run by Leigh and Maria.

From my first encounter with TSC, which was when I received Marco’s excellent ‘Tricks of the Trade’ newsletters, which I found very educational, enlightening and the catalyst for me to pick up the phone to ring Marco and find out more about TSC.

That telephone call to Marco, led me on to enquire about possible career opportunities, then arrange an interview and now here I am, letting you guys know about my experience.

Anyway, duties call and I must get back to some hard graft, its been a pleasure and emotional. But one must get back to making some money for TSC and myself.

Regards

Deano

Client Visits

Hi again all,

Deepesh again, reporting in for the second week and what a week its been!
I have been shadowing Sean, Paul and Joe and let me tell you, they couldnt be more different, (for one thing, Joe is American, yes ladies....AMERICAN!)
Joe is about the most meticulous person i have every seen, down to the last dot on the preverbial "i". Leigh has been giving lots of help this week, probably the nicest boss i have ever had, but i suppose she hasnt heard my jokes yet!
The interaction between the consultants and the clients has been amazing, i have learnt so much. Its the little things that these guys see that make them the best in the business. You cant interact with a client any more than them seeing you as a full time member of the team! If i can sum up my second week, lets just say that i can tell you that the consultants here are amongst the most proffessional people i have ever had the pleasure of working with and i`m soon hoping to be in that category!

Thats all for now but if you guys are lucky, i might post in again next week!

Cheerio all!

The New Guy!

Hi there, my name is Deepesh Mistry and I`m the new guy at The Sales Consultancy.
I thought I would give you guys out there the scoop on being a "newie" on the TSC scene.

Its the end of my first week and I`ve loved it. I shadowed Sean and Marco for the second day. Got to say, interesting people! They obviously luuurve what they do! And yes people, thats definitely infectious, (thats what they said anyway!)

Its not easy trying to come across as a nice guy when you are a 6.1` Asian bloke who looks about as friendly as a Yak who`s just seen a red flag!

Next, I was with Paul, and let me tell you, he has to be the fastest typer in the west. He loves to type, and type and type. He has a way with clients though, one of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Finally, a quick note about Leigh and Maria (the brains of the outfit)..........I guess we couldn't do it without them, they are like the central computer controlling all the machines in the Matrix....(I`m Morpheus by the way........... Marco most resembles Neo).

*Side note ....... (Doesnt Neo die at the end?!?!?!)

Well, I`m all hyped about next week so lets get out there and see what we can do!

Deepesh Mistry.

B2B Show

I went along to the B2B show at Business Design Centre full of hope that I would meet some interesting contacts and hear some useful and inspirational speakers.
Whilst the show was very well organised, it was quite small and didn't live up to my expectations.
They had some great speakers at the 'concepts of excellence' theatre but if you didn't get a seat and stood at the sidelines the sound quality was so poor that you couldn't understand a word. Particularly when you are a small 5'.1" individual.
Another little moan - I like to network in designated networking areas with visitors to these kind of shows. Businesses with stands are too focussed on presenting themselves to network with visitors that are not necessarily potential clients. Shame there wasn't a networking area!!!
Did catch up with some contacts though and came away with some useful info.
If you know of any good shows specifically for the SME and B2B markets, I would really appreciate the info.
Happy sales and marketing.
